No, that's what I thought at first too, but you definitely DO need to take it at the EXACT same time. There's about a 15 minute leeway, but that's it. If you are having, or plan to ever have, ANY unprotected sex, she has to take it at the exact same time.
It's how the pill works. It sends a message to the brain for exactly 24hours and 15minutes. If she doesn't take them at the same time, the message stops and there's a chance that she'll release an egg during the time in between, and even if she takes it at the right time the next day, she could still get pregnant because it was released.
It's okay if she forgets once or twice out of the month, but make sure she then takes it as soon as possible, and you DO NOT have unprotected sex for at least a week or so.
It's important. This is how the majority of women who get pregnant while on the pill get pregnant. Don't mess with it. Have her set her alarm on her cell phone or something for the same time every night or morning, so she'll never forget.
(Taking it at the same time also helps prevent side effects, but that's a little less relevant here.)
