It's more than likely that this is just a fetish, but if at any point you actually feel unsafe, don't hesitate to seek professional help (police/therapist/doctor).
The problem with fetishes such as these is that it requires a full trust. If you trust your boyfriend enough to let him do these things, as long as its done safely, with consent, and (even better) is enjoyed by both of you, than there's no real problem with it.
Asphyxiation (strangling), and rough sex fetishes are common and if you're okay with it and you feel safe, than it's okay.
If you don't feel safe, or he goes into rages or fits when these he does these things, or he forces you into them or gets mad at you when he wont let you do one of them, then it's possible that it's something different; something more.
