Poll "Ex-Masturbator" T-shirt is the new move in "Hotlanta"!

There are times when stories come to your lap with wings and halos. This is one of those times and the choir came along with it.

While checking out one of my favorite sex blog Fleshbot came this piece from Atlanta, Georgia from a faith group Passion For Christ Movement (Passion for Christ Movement - P4CM.com) is taking its bold message of their passion for Jesus with the latest t-shirt to come out:

"EX-MASTURBATOR"

No, you didn't read that wrong, that's what's on the shirt. It comes complete with video from the folks behind the scenes talking about how masturbation can a: lead to pornography, b: other improper sexual behavior and c: not giving "glory to God".

Though I highly praise their further to be pleasing to God, to take a natural God given behavior to task and consider yourself an "ex" something is a very bold thing indeed (as you'll hear in the video). What happens if you slip and touch yourself? What about the medical and physiological proof that it helps both men and women? Not that there's nothing wrong with Praising the Lord, but God will not strike you down for touching yourself.

Other t-shirts in the collection are as follows:

"EX-DIVA"
"EX-FORNICATOR"
"EX-HYPOCRITE"
"EX-ATHEIST"
"EX-HOMOSEXUAL"

There are others here at this site (P4CM.COM) but it does ring some alarming points regarding the sexual issues. But I can tell you once I dig a little deeper about this issue this WILL be an article. Now the big question is what do you good folks feel about it? Do you think they are on to something or are they misguided in their assumption normal sexual expression is "sinful"?

UPDATE: The church is actually in Los Angeles, not Atlanta. My bad.

To me, they seem to be feeding on taboos and stigmas. Ex-homosexual makes very little sense as someone is born with their sexual orientation, they don't (often) change it.
Ex-masturbator raises two issues for me
1: is that even a word?
2: that isn't actually a good thing. Sure, masturbating can be bad when done obssessively, but in moderation it actually helps a person psychologically. It causes sexual freedom and the like.

Also, I went on the website and saw an 'ex porn addict'
Initial thought: WHAT?
a) people aren't actually addicted to porn. They like the feelings caused by watching, but very few like the actual content (does that make sense?)
b) personally, from a religous point of view, I see nothing wrong with porn if all participants are willing and know what is happening. An 'ex-voyeur' (do they actually make those? Don't think so) I can understand, more or less, bit ex porn addict is pushing it a bit far.

ex-fornicator, on the grounds of fornication, from what i understand the definition to be, extra-marital sex, what is wrong with that? Nearly all of the people I know that have had sex did it outside marriage. The only difference is a change of names, and a ceremony. No physical change. The only change is the way you percieve it.

'Sinful' is overused, and almost meaningless, applying for nearly everything from murder to fantasizing. Enjoying sex isn't sinful, and it seems that's what they're punishing. Not to mention the fact they're 'denouncing the evils' of masturbation via a slippery slope argument.

Side note: ex-atheist? If they buy any of these shirts, doesn't it follow they're an ex-atheist?

ps: sorry for the rant.

I see that shirt as a reminder TO masturbate. It even makes kids new to spelling ask what it means. "Ooh, big word. I better look it up." The cool shirts have big tribal crussifixes on them, with the words, "Cross Eyed"

Ex-masturbater? How many hours? Did you wash your hands before you putting that shirt on? Does the back say future rapist?

When a guy stops working his organ he gets testosterone poisoning and looses his ability to think without aggression. In short he becomes an A-hole about everything. A guy who's body is wanting to exercise its testis will try in your sleep and at any other chance it can slip past your fore-brain, Killing sperm is a valid sacrifice for rape prevention.

If the church didn't misread the story of Onan we'd be better off. He spilled his seed when his DUTY was to knock up his dead brother's wife. (Different times, different customs.) God told him twice and Onan got stupid. The third time he withheld his seed God killed Onan. Not for what he did, but for what he did not do.

I totally agree with Rob that masturbating can be bad when done obsessively, but not when in moderation. It is the sexual predators that we must be aware of, what makes them and how to purge them.
