i think i need friend zone help

ok this seems pitiful but i need help from someone ok
im taking this girl to prom, she is my friend, she finds me funny and we always laugh together, she has never been in a relationship (neither have I) and i dont know if dating is really on her mind, but i would like to date her. I want to wait until after prom to tell her so that we can go as friends and it wont be wierd i guess.
I playfully flirt with her from time to time but she sleedom flirts back, she seems shy about it. She might view me as a friend i have never really insinuated that i liked her though so i dont think that she knows i like her. If she says no we can still be friends i guess so i hope im making sense does anyone have advice

My best advice is to ask her out. Sit her down and tell her how you feel. Tell her how important her friendship is to you and whether or not she wants to date you still want her friendship.

I think you should go for it, there is really no risk besides losing her as a friend. If it's prom that means you only have a few year left with her being in your school. Unless you both plan on going to the same college.You might as well try, you never know what you could be missing.

Follow Desperate house wife's advice, there are some stories out there that people really liked their best friend. But never asked them out so they completely lost a really good relationship.
