Is this a good way to ask her out, again?

Her's my situation: I've taken this girl out once to a concert, we talked a lot and really clicked, unfortunately I never made a move at the end of the night, which was already late, to ask for her number or if she'd like to go out again. We both have a few classes together and make small talk between classes when we cross paths on campus. She lives close to me and we have made plans for her and her female housemates to come over and watch a new DVD at my place.

I would like to turn that into dinner and a movie but, I'm shy about asking her directly. So here is what I proposse: I'll buy that DVD when it comes out, place a hand written not inside the case asking her if she would like to turn tha movie night into dinner and a movie, include my number which she does not have, and place the DVD case under her winshield wiper either at school or at her house, we usually park by each other anyway. I would take her out to dinner, then get all the girls that are coming over, take them for dessert at DQ, then to my place for the movie.

Would this be a good way to serve my purpose? It's out of the ordinary and original. Or would this be too awkward for pursuing only the second date?

Keep it simple and just go with your guy's original plan.

Did she even know it was a date the first time you guys went out?
