Question Does flamboyant translate to gay?

Hello every,

There is a guy in my residence that I have recently admitted to myself I have a crush on. I have been reluctant to accept this fact for some time, as most people think that he may be gay. I am good friends with him, and am not certain whether he did like me at one point, or whether it was a cover story for his being straight. He acts very flamboyant, and I have seen him hit on girls, but he seems somewhat awkward and unsure of himself when he is flirting. I have asked him about his sexuality, and he says he is straight. I am not sure if he is simply a straight and flamboyant guy, or one who is in the closet. Would anyone here be able to give me any advice?

Default go with your gut

Your gut is usually right, if you feel he is gay, then chances are he is. I have known a few guys who said they were straight and later came out as gay. Sometimes a person just isn't ready to admit to themselves that they are gay, especially if they are from a conservative or religious upbringing.
There are some guys who are just flamboyant and are absolutely straight, however these are a much smaller percentage of the gay flamboyant guys.
My best advice is to straight up ask him if he's interested in you or not.
