If you watch much network TV you'll probably have heard of Jericho, a new post-apocalyptic drama. We really don't watch much TV except the occasional show that gets our interest, and never the news - but that's another story for another day.

Anyway, we didn't catch Jericho when it first came on (rather it didn't catch our interest at the time), but we somehow ended up getting the first season DVD when it came out on Netflix. And I have to say it's been a very pleasant surprise. All in all I think it's one of the best primetime series we've seen in years. The characters were mostly well developed, and the writers did an excellent job with the storyline.

It's a great story about survival, caring, and staying frankly human in the face of severe adversity and a very tough situation. And unlike some shows, this one seemed to get better with each episode, as the story was further developed and revealed.

Unfortunately it was canceled after just 1 season. But then - and here's what's interesting - Jericho fans made so much noise that the network actually brought Jericho back for a 2nd season. And then they canceled it again.

If you haven't seen it yet, give it a shot. It's definitely worth checking out the first few episodes to get the real flavor of the story. You can actually watch some of the episodes on your computer from the CBS Jericho website, but if you have a Netflix membership, you might just add one of the DVDs to your queue and watch it on the couch.
