Next Step?

I met a man that has been separated from his wife for 6 months. We went out for drinks one night. He invited me over to his house a few times. I met his son, twin brother, sister and mother. We got along well and seemed to really hit it off.
Then out of the blue he quit calling/texting, when he finally did return my call, he said he had some personal things he needed to take care of and needed to make some personal decisions for himself and that he would get a hold of me after the weekend. He said "Don't take it personal, that's just how I am". Needless to say, the weekend came and went with no word from him. Well, that was two weeks ago and I still haven't heard anything from him. Though I do understand his situation, having gone through my own separation a year ago, I don't understand the silence.
Is this his way of telling me he just isn't interested anymore?
Do I leave things alone and just carry on with no further thought of him contacting me?
Do I try to be a friend to him, and let him know I'm still here for him?
