Question Birth Control alternatives....

I am curious of other alternatives for birth control. Besides condoms, which can hurt, irritate and kind of get in the way.... I am avoiding hormones at all costs right now, as I think they are making me sick. And I guess i'm sick of always having that responsibility laid on me. I have offered my guy alternatives with the Rhythmn method and getting an ovulation kit to see IF and WHEN i'm ovulating... so in theory we can avoid those days. But apparently he isn't keen on either idea.... although, I'd be curious to get the ovulation kit just to see if my body is even ovulating... which i have suspected it is not.

So, just wondering if any of you guys out there have other ideas to use for birth control.... I"m out of ones. Condoms irritate me down there pretty bad, plus i used to have an allergy to latex... which I would rather NOT have come back. I have been with my guy for almost 6 years... and it is mentally demeaning, at least to my sexuality and esteem, to go back to using condoms.... doesn't feel the same and hurts... So, it isn't like this is a new liason....

Default hormone free birth control

I'm on a hormone free kick myself.

You can use a hormone free IUD, but that might make you bleed for a while, and then finally cut out periods altogether.

He can get a vasectomy, but that's considered permanent.

This is for your consideration, this woman wrote an ebook on hormone free bc
MySpace.com - petyamarina - 41 - Female - UK - www.myspace.com/pettcorby
but it covers some of what you already mentioned.

Your guy should do his research, too. If you two are careful, (don't have sex while drunk, etc) the rhythm method is a good option. He doesn't trust it right now because he lacks information. This shouldn't all be on you.

The ovulation kit is a good idea. I use this site, it's very handy!
Ovulation Calendar

Consider ways to satisfy each other sexually without penis/vagina penetration, mix it up.

Finally, you can experiment with different latex free condoms and find one that works for you.

Thumbs up

Problem with non-latex is they usually don't come in bigger sizes. I am not sure the"regular" sized ones would fit on my guy.

My previous GYN brought up Mirena (IUD), but that has small amount of Hormone. I asked my pharmacist how much estrogen was in there, about 20 micrograms. I'm not sure if that would be "too much" or might be doable without affecting hormones to go over. I'd rather just avoid it period! I Do go to my GYN on wednesday, so i'll talk to her then! I am unsure about IUDs as they have a rather nasty history and I do fear puncture of my uterus or damage from it. I wish my guy would go with me to talk to her, but he won't go. I have an earful to tell her on wednesday! I need to make notes so i make sure i talk to her about everything I want to talk to her about!

I'll check out those sites. I'll see if he'll look more up on the Rhythmn method. or at least consider the ovulation kit idea. Honestly, I don't even think i AM ovulating... hard to get pregnant when i'm not ovulating... and I might as well enjoy it right?
