Lately, I've been shaving everything, except for a small patch, about a 1/2 wide, just above the shaft where it begins. I keep that about a 1/4 in long. Chicks dig it.LOL.
It's really not a big deal. Some of the things I suggested really work and minimize the chance of nicking yourself. I never do and it's smooth.

In the past I would only shave down there only in the summer or when I knew I was going to have sex.
