Unhappy Girlfriend's Vaginal pain?

Usually about 5 minutes into sex my girlfriend begins to experience vaginal pain. This also interrupts her also receiving an orgasm through intercourse (because she just isn't comfortable anymore)

Since we don't yet live together and she's still in college we don't have sex all that often- Maybe about 2-3 times a month. Could this be what causes the pain? Will regular sex make it less painful?

We use lubricated condoms so it's not a friction issue and she's doesn't have any latex allergies- do you have any hints as to what could be the issue and what we can do to avoid the pain and make sex more comfortable in the long run?

Thank you!!

My first thought is endometriosis. She shouldn't be having pain at this point. Only a pelvic exam can track down the cause. If that is ruled out, then there are psychological causes we can look at. However, a medical explanation, especially the endometriosis, needs to be ruled out. You don't want to start probing the psyche if it's a medical problem to begin with.

Please encourage her to see her health care provider. If it is endometriosis or other condition, it needs to be treated.

That was my second thought. If inflammation is ruled out as a cause, that would be a logical conclusion.

Well she goes to the gynecologist regularly (well whatever the recommended amount is), would this be found in her regular check-ups?

If she does need an exam, do you have any advice on how to bring this up with her? I mean I just don't want to make it sound like I'm saying "There's something wrong with you, you need to go get it checked out" you know?

I would just present it as being concerned for her wellbeing. "I am concerned about this pain you're having . Have you had it checked out?"
