Hey I have been on anti depressants for 18 months or so. I am a 35 year old male. I find masturabtion works as normal, but cannot achieve orgasm with a sexual partner, and sometimes cannot even achieve an erection, even if my mind is rearing to go!
Can you share your expeiences? |

I had the same problem with certain ones.
Prozac doesn't effect me this way once I adjust to it. Cymbalta, Zoloft, Celexa, Lexapro, and a few others gave me the anti-orgasm problem. It didn't have any effect on my ability to have an erection or to maintain one. It just took forever to cum. It would work great for someone with premature ejaculation. Wellbutrin is know as being one of the only ones that doesn't have sexual side-effects. I've heard that it actually can enhance orgasm. |

Thanks I am on 225mg of Venlafaxine/day (Efexor XR, Effexor XR depending on regions).

That's not an SSRI ...it's in a separate class. It's an SNRI (a serotonin-norepinephrine reuptake inhibitor). That's what Cymbalta was.
Like I said...if this is a concern, you could tell your Doctor about your side-effect and suggest Wellbutrin to him. If it works for you, there are no sexual side-effects. Prozac seems to be OK for me. On Zoloft, I could have had a Playboy bunny giving me a blow-job and I would have taken forever to cum. Actually, I had sex for a few hours and couldn't cum. |
