Default first sex toy, help/suggestions plz!

First, I have to thank Dan and Jennifer for posting their videos on lube and sex toys. I have been thinking about getting sex toys for a while now, but there were too many types to choose from and didn't know what many of them do to buy one. After watching their videos and more research, I am looking for a dildo that has a small girth (an inch or less) preferably designed for the g-spot.

Does anyone know of a good dildo that has <1" girth?

Or a substitute that would work just as well?

Do vibrators work as well as dildos without the batteries?
(because I am considering buying a vibrator instead: Bgee - G-spot vibrators - EdenFantasys)

Default Good Beginner G Spot Vibe

Check out "My First Mini G Spot Vibe". It is made of hard plastic, so no phthalates. It is small and highly affordable. If you like the sensations, you can then move on to a more sophisticated model.

Just be aware that many people say that a G-spot vibe takes some getting used to, and controlling a hard plastic one - complete with the lube - can be difficult when you first start.

Cheesy Grin update

Thanks for your suggestion, toyblogger. I looked it up online and found it. I ended up deciding to go to a store so I could actually see the toys in front of me. The store I went to had so many to choose from! I bought a simple vibrator, less than an inch thick and about five inches long. I'll be trying it later today.

More questions:
Is there a difference between dildo dong, dildo, and dong?

The cashier said that I should use cheap batteries to keep the vibrators in better shape. Is that true? And why is that?

OK, I admit I know nothing about this subject, but I do know a little about batteries. Cheap batteries and "good" batteries put out the same voltage and very similar amperage. Cheap batteries are more likely to leak acid. Good batteries put out the same current longer, but when the battery is new it's the same current. I see absolutely no reason a cheap battery would help care for something.

Dildo and dong are nearly interchangeable anymore. Traditionally, a dildo meant a phallic representation (of nearly any kind - the Romans made dildos from crafted leather and used olive oil for lubes). Dildos can be classified in many ways.

For purpose of clarity, usually, a dildo will be constructed with a base - a flared base for anal insertion or balls for lifelike representation - and a dong is just a shaft, or can be double ended for sharing with a partner.

As for batteries - environmentally conscious consumers aim for rechargeable toys. Cheap batteries are an awful choice for waterproof vibes and not so good if you prefer lots of lube or have an inexpensive toy that isn't built of the highest quality.

I'd like to know the rationale for using cheap batteries to keep the toy in "better shape." The cashier may be right, but I'm not sure. I'll do some checking around, but I haven't heard that suggestion before.

You can check out some work I've done on Google Knowledge. Just go to google, click on more options and select Knol. You can search by my name - Bill Turner - and find a series I'm writing on selecting the right toy.

Buying in a store is fine, but without the right information, you're as likely to be disappointed with something you've seen and held as you are with something you ordered online that wasn't right for you. And, with the right information, you can pick the right toy without even seeing it! Of course, I don't recommend shopping blindfolded.

Finally, remember that if you're shopping for a G-spot stimulating toy, get the angled tip... Otherwise, you'll have a lot of work to do getting the sensation you want. Many happy nights with your new toy!

Hi there Kettlekorn. By now, you may already have a toy suitable enough for your needs, but if you haven't, check out a Discreet G. It has a cleverly curved tip and a thin, sleek shaft that enables me to find my sweet spot every time!

Lightbulb How to choose your First Sex Toy / Vibrator

Hi KettleKorn, here's an update for you.

First, your choice of vibrator vs. dildo really depends on your intentions and budget... typically a dildo will be less expensive, but a vibrator has the option for vibration/massage which a dildo will not.

Here's a video we just published on check it out here.[/indent]

Cheesy Grin

Thank you for all your replies! I have been pretty happy with the new vibrator, especially when my boyfriend uses it on me during foreplay I am actually a little surprised by how little I use it (then again my boyfriend and I moved in together...), but I am happy to have the option there.
