I find this thread interesting. I do practice forgiving myself every time I mess up, as Kat points out. I’m getting better at it.

To add to that comment – the one thing I always do is to respect myself and love myself – I know who I am, I love and respect myself very much and i have a lot of pride, and I offer myself generously.

It sounds all good and beautiful but some incidents and some people are hard to swallow..

To me, this whole concept of “making peace with it” sounds far-fetched, and only a way to brainwash oneself.

I accept that some people are simply impossible and I don’t necessarily forgive everybody like some books tell me.

Just as much as love is part of life, despise is part of it as well, in my opinion.. in my humble, non-sugarcoated reality.

I agree with you, Jane — if you don’t love yourself, warts and all with a willingness to work on what you’d like to change and to embrace what you don’t want to — then who else will?

And I agee with what you say, Janet. The only problem is your last few words … ” live by that code.”

Now THAT’s the hard part, right? We often make choices that don’t honor that code.

So I’d say, when you mess up, forgive yourself and vow to do it better the next time. No use beating yourself up for being human!

Before you can love others, I believe you have to love thy self. Only then, can they love others to the best of their abilities…wow, kinda philosophic huh
