Dan & Jennifer - I LOVE LOVE LOVE what you say about life not having to be hard! What an incredibly limiting belief: "anything worthwhile has to be hard." I bought into that one for much of my life. When a fiance said to me after a particular rough conversation, "It isn't supposed to be this HARD," I chastised him! I said, "relationships are HARD WORK. And if you're not up for HARD WORK than we don't have a chance!"

Thank goodness he knew better than I did - that it doesn't have to be hard. Otherwise who knows how long I'd have pounded it out in that marriage? That was a good belief to let go of, although it took me some time to learn that he was right. Who'da thought?! lol

Thanks for spreading the good word about how Law of Attraction works in the relationship department. You're a joy to read!

Fair enough! My only real introduction is from "The Secret" which was VERY painful to get through. It just seemed like a veiled attempt at trying to convince the average person that he or she doesn't have to work to get what they want. All you have to do is imagine it and POOF it magically appears.

Anyway, it sounds like it does work. I'll have to check out Joe's book. Maybe he gives a better introduction into "The Law of Attraction".

Thanks for the response!

Hi ScottUA.

Yes! I absolutely believe it works.

I'm all for creating a plan, but what I've discovered over the last few years is this...

When I create a plan and I am adamant about sticking to that plan no matter what, I often run into various hurdles and roadblocks. It can get very frustrating. Have you ever felt like you're beating your head up against the wall and making zero progress?

What I've found is that when I focus on the goal and less on the details of how I need to reach that goal - when I open my mind to new directions and opportunities, those roadblocks and hurdles just seem to fall away.

This is the Law of Attraction - when you have a goal or desire, it may come to you in completely unexpected ways. If you get stuck in the 'how' it may not happen at all.

Here's an example. We currently live in a beautiful house in a beautiful, and I mean beautiful, neighborhood and the way that we came to be here would seem crazy to some...

When we first learned of the Law of Attraction 2 years ago, we read Joe Vitale's book called the Attractor Factor. In the back of that book is what he calls the 30 day experiment. In January, we were trying to sell our existing house, so we decided to focus on "finding a beautiful house in a neighborhood that we love".

Well... We tried to control exactly how that was going to happen and must have looked at 50 houses and made offers on 3. When the 3rd offer was accepted, we accepted an offer on our house. Guess what - the offer on the new house fell through and we had to move out of our existing house in 2 weeks! We ended up staying in a hotel for 3 weeks and completely gave up on buying a house and decided to rent a house. (This was the shift...) We gave up!

Our hotel room over-looked this really beautiful golf-course community and we would look out over the balcony wishing that we could live there. It was so beautiful with rolling hills and trees - rare for Dallas.

Guess what - the only house for rent in the area (I have some school district restrictions) was in that neighborhood and we could actually afford it! We looked at it and signed the lease on the spot.

Here's where this story gets even more weird. The owner of the house got foreclosed on and we had to move out. Amazingly and with very little effort, we found the perfect house that we love in the same beautiful neighborhood. It was a stretch for us financially, but we trusted that it would work out. Everything just seemed to magically line up so that we could move into that house.

So why the long rant?

It wasn't until we let go and allowed the Universe to work it's magic, that we got what we were previously working so hard to achieve. So, plans are good - just don't be tied to them so firmly!

Hey Dan and Jennifer,

Liked this article, but I have a question...do you find that 'The Law of Attraction' really works? I've read up on this philosophy and to be honest it seems a little hokey to me.

While I do believe in clearly defining what you want, I think that people don't *get* how they can change their life. It is important to set goals and identify what you want to change. But MOST importantly, you must create a PLAN for how you'll get it.

Anyway, I definitely agree with your comments about describing your perfect mate. I've found the more I clearly define my ideal woman, the more I'll notice be able to notice when I come across her.
