For sure, there needs to be some sort of comprehensive sex education in America. I personally, live in Canada and received sex education from grade 4 onwards. It was, admittedly, awkward at that time, but in retrospect, it was something that I am thankful for now.
I just recently turned 18, and i think that there should still be progress towards a more informed North America.
This is a quote from someone from the Abstinance Clearinghouse Conference in America, "Your body is a wrapped lollipop. When you have sex with a man, he unwraps your lollipop and sucks on it. It may feel great at the time, but, unfortunately when he's done with you, all you have left for your next partner is a poorly-wraped, saliva-fouled lollipop"
Not only is that telling females that sex is dirty, but it's also saying that virginity (or more likely, hymens) are the only moral gauge that women should be judged on. It's also implied that sex MUST be between a man and a woman, which leaves LBGT teens in the closet. Furthermore, abstinance until marriage is mainly something that's reserved for females, which stems from a patriarchal society (based on the whole 'he's a stud, she's a slut' mindset that's pushed by the media). And, like you mentioned in the video, teens aren't being taught sufficiently about contraceptives should they choose to be sexually active.
Sorry, I digress. In conclusion, teaching teens to remain abstinant until marriage not only deprives them of necessary information, but it instills archaic gender roles that have no place in modern society.
