One of the Biggest Law of Attraction Mistakes

The Universal Law of Attraction (LOA) is a very powerful force in our everyday lives. As human beings, we are very powerful attractors and can use this wonderful, God-given, power to attract or manifest more of what we want in life simply by paying attention to where we place our focus, thoughts, and desires.

One of the biggest mistakes that people make with the Law of Attraction is trying to control another person. For example, picturing your ex-taking you back is actually a form of trying to control his or her actions and feelings. You simply can’t control how another person feels or acts, only how you react to their feelings and actions.

Here’s a question from Barry who’s not quite sure how to apply this powerful concept in his own life…

Dear Dan and Jennifer,

I’ m a 23 years old Taiwanese boy who goes to school in Vancouver BC. When I was 16, I met a girl in Taiwan. Pretty soon after we met, I had to leave Taiwan to return to school in Vancouver. We started a long distance relationship. She met another man in LA, and she overlapped me and him for a while. This was very heartbreaking for me, however I had no doubt in my mind about wanting her back. However, last year (after a 6 year relationship) she broke up with me again for the same reasons.

Since I have read The Secret, I understand the Law of Attraction is to focus on what you want, pretend this is really happening, and accept the fact that it is going to happen. After we broke up, I often pictured the scene of her begging me to take her back again, but I understand that you can never change another person with the Law of Attraction. Is it best me to just move on?

The twenty-first century has born its own brand of relationships. Computer dating and internet porn sites offer a myriad of ways to entertain those seeking love. Love is in the process of being redefined, yet it is the eternal yardstick for happiness.

Sacred relationship begins with the self.

Where are you in this regard?

Begin by assessing your strengths and your weaknesses. Be as honest as you can realizing that to get more of what you want, you have to be clear where you are. The art of Recapitulation involves revisiting one’s past in order to get clarity and be able to reside in the present moment with peace.

Just as Don Juan Mateus guided Carlos Castaneda in this venture, begin by remembering all you can remember about yourself in the context of relationship. Do not judge, stay in the memory, remember how you were feeling. This may take several attempts, include journaling, scripting, or talking aloud……just remember it all.

When you arrive at the present with your past memories, you are allowed to let go, and make peace with it all. No matter how dark it may have been in your view, it can only be resolved by putting grace around the past and owning it as a human experience.

Only when you have been able to clear these triggers of your subconscious, is one able to create a new script with the expectation of total freedom.

Why You Should Stop Being the Backup Guy Before It’s Too Late

So what does it mean to be "The Backup Guy"?

The backup guy is the one she calls to go out when no one else is around. He’s the one that’s always there for her just in case she needs him. He is not however, very high on her priority list and she will cancel plans, not show up, and otherwise treat him like a lower class citizen.

And she can get away with it because he REALLY likes HER.

So what should you do if you find yourself in this situation?

The Question

I have been asking out a woman for more than a month. She keeps saying yes, but then either has excuses or disappears. I know she was wrapping up with an ex-boyfriend and that was part of the problem. He is now out of the picture and she now says she doesn’t want to date till she’s past it. This again puts me on a back burner, where she still says she would like to go out sometime.

She says that I’m a NICE GUY, just the kind she probably needs. I told her she might not want a nice guy and she said I was wrong. In social situations, not dates because can’t get her to go on a real date, she is very flirty with everyone.

Normally I would bail out at this point, but when I do my phone rings off the hook she’s wondering why I’m ignoring her. I know she has others admirers, so what? I like her a lot and she knows it. It seems she is just trying to hang on for the comfort effect. I want to move forward or move on. Forward gets blocked. Moving on gets phone calls… Suggestions would be nice!!

The Answer

You’re absolutely right. She seems to be entertaining you so that she has a security blanket and doesn’t have to be alone.

It’s good that she wants to get past her previous relationship before dating again, but she seems a little flaky and it sounds like you’re not exactly her type, but you’re there when she is lonely.

The "Backup Guy"

To cut right to the chase – You’re the back up guy in case no one better shows up…

When I say ‘better’, I mean from her perspective… Don’t think that there’s anything wrong with you. This just doesn’t sound like a 2-way fit…

Top 10 New Years Resolutions – It’s Not Too Late For You!

Here’s another great article from Gary Ryan Blair, The Goals Guy. It’s not too late to come up with your resolutions for this year. Gary’s article covers the top ten resolutions for 2007 – Read through the list and see if any of them look familiar… I can certainly identify with most of them.

One word of advice when choosing your new years resolution.

Don’t try to accomplish all ten of them this year. Pick one – yes I said just one – to accomplish this year and focus all of your energy on accomplishing that one goal.

Too many of us try to solve ‘world hunger’, when we could make the most difference by feeding a single family. That’s just an analogy, but you get the picture.

Once you’ve chosen your single resolution for the year, don’t let anything else get in your way. Pursue that one single resolution as if you life depends on it – depending on the resolution you choose (like stop smoking or lose weight), it just may…

New Year’s is the only holiday that celebrates the passage of time. Perhaps that’s why, as the final seconds of the year tick away, we become introspective. Inevitably, that introspection turns to thoughts of self-improvement and the annual ritual of making resolutions, which offer the first of many important tools for remaking ourselves. The following list is the result of our extensive survey, which consisted of over 300,000 responses worldwide.

1. Lose Weight and Get in Better Physical Shape

Physical activity builds physical vitality. With every year of your life, you have more to gain from being physically active; as your age-related risks of chronic disease increase, regular exercise generally slows or reverses that trend. In fact, you’re even more likely to notice the benefits of regular exercise if you already have a chronic condition.

Are you ever going to be fit again as long as you live? The answer is unless you make a resolution to get fit – you’re never going to be fit – ever. The choice is yours; it begins by opting for the stairs instead of the elevator, fruit in place of chocolate, and active rather than sedentary activities.

Dan and Jennifer: We made a very simple commitment this year to do some sort of physical activity (that actually gets our heart rate up) for 10 minutes every day. Walking from the sofa to the mail box doesn’t count! One of our favorite activities is walking our two really awesome doggies, Cujo (a 10 pound Yorkie), and Sasha (a 90 pound German Shepherd). Can guess whose dog is whose?

2. Stick to a Budget

It’s been said that the best defense is a good offense. Developing and sticking to a realistic budget is a brilliant offensive move as it prevents overspending and ensures peace of mind. Many people find it very difficult to stick to a budget. It does take hard work and a lot of self-discipline, at least in the beginning. The good news is that most people find the longer they can stick to a budget, the easier it becomes.

Dan and Jennifer: We actually addressed this one last year. Neither of us has ever been very good at creating, much less sticking to a budget.

Last August we read a really great book, Secrets of the Millionaire Mind, and attended a free 3 day seminar, the Millionaire Mind Intensive, from Peak Potentials, founded by T. Harv Ecker. Ecker is a very well known guru in the area of personal development / betterment.

I’m not going to go into the details here, you’ll have to read the book to get the very simple strategies that have helped us triple our savings and always have more than enough money to pay our bills and have fun at the same time. I highly recommend at least reading the book…

Dating and Relationship Advice – Can You Use the Law of Attraction to Find True Love?

Have you ever noticed that when you start thinking about buying a new car, you start to see that car everywhere you go? This happens to all of us on both a very small and very large scale. For our purposes, we are talking about the very common idea that our "thoughts create our reality".

Now, you may be thinking…

"Wait, this sounds really weird. I’ve never heard of this stuff before, so it must be bogus." Hold that thought for just a minute… If you’re not already in the perfect relationship and your life isn’t already exactly as you want it to be, then keep reading. This very short article could just change your life for the better.

So what is the Law of Attraction? Simply put it is a Universal Law that says we will attract into our lives the things that we focus our attention on, whether it is positive or negative. Whether you are aware of it or not, every thought you have, every emotion you feel, everything you hear and read, affects your reality.

So what does that have to do with dating and relationships?

By truly understanding what you want from a relationship and applying some very basic Law of Attraction principles, you will ensure that you get what you truly desire. It is important to understand exactly what physical traits, behaviors, values, beliefs, and interests are important to you so that you can focus on what you want in your relationship instead of what you don’t want.

Take out a piece of paper and write down everything you want in your perfect relationship. What is he or she like? How do they look, smell, talk? What kinds of things will you do together? How do you feel when you’re around them? Really get into this and take the time to write down every detail. It’ll be well worth it in the end.

Most people never take this step of writing down what they want and yet it is the single most important step in finding the partner of their dreams.
