In real-time conversations, I lie all the time, in an instinctive non-premeditated way, usually about tiny insignificant things, because part of my mind is trying to manage the other person’s perceptions of me. The lie is out of my mouth before my brain has had a chance to say “Hey, tell the truth”. But I don’t think it follows that because you lie about the little things you’ll lie about the big things too.

Maybe she lies because she is afraid that he might not accept her as she is, or afraid that he might freak out on things.
OR maybe she doesn’t trust him.
What he needs to do is communicate A LOT. Talk about Everything and Anything.
It takes time for a person to trust another person.
